2011 North American Formula 18 Championship
The Hyannis Yacht Club in cooperation with the North American Formula 18 Association is the Organizing Authority.
Venue and Dates
The 2011 North American Formula 18 Championship will be held at the Hyannis Yacht Club, 490 Ocean St., Hyannis Ma. USA. The event dates are Tuesday, September 20, 2011 through Saturday, September 24, 2011. Racing will take place on Nantucket Sound.
Rules
The 2011 North American Championship F 18 regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), and by the rules as defined by the International Formula 18 Association with the exception that all United States Prescriptions, as outlined by The United States Formula 18 Class Association (USF18) shall apply. Any other rule changes or modifications will be posted in the Sailing Instructions. In accordance with the US Sailing Prescription to RRS 88.2, the US Sailing Prescription to RRS 40 is deleted for this event. A personal flotation device approved by the US Coast Guard or the equivalent authority of the competitor’s home country must be worn at all times while afloat, except for brief periods while adjusting clothing.
Eligibility
The ISAF Competitor’s Eligibility Code applies (ISAF Regulation 19). The 2011 North American Formula 18 Championship is open to any Formula 18 as defined by the International Formula 18 Association. To compete in the 2011 North American Championship, both skipper and crew must be members in good standing of the North American Formula 18 Class Association.
Advertising
Advertising is not limited for the regatta as described in ISAF Regulation 20.
Entries and Registration
The Official Registration and Entry form are available at the Hyannis Yacht Club Website, hyannisyachtclub.org through the F18 link. Online registration is required for this event.
Competitors are not considered to be registered until all registration information, fees and waivers are signed and submitted.
Registration deadline is midnight September 10, 2011.
Fees
Registration fees for this event are as follows:
Prior to September 1st, 2011 $350.00 USD
After September 1st, 2011 $450.00 USD
Registration fees are refundable until Thursday, September 1st, 2011.
Check In, Weigh In and Measurement
Check In and Weigh In will be at the Hyannis Yacht Club North American Headquarters which will be clearly identified at the Hyannis Yacht Club (HYC).
All boats competing in the 2011 F18 North American Championship Regatta are required to be certified in accordance with Class Rules. Boats not certified can receive certification on-site for a fee. Contact a Class Measurer for details regarding boat certification prior to the event, or for scheduling certification at the event USF18 Class. There will be a limited number of certification appointments available at the event. Boat and crew corrector weights will be checked at a designated area near the Registration Desk at the Hyannis Yacht Club. Boats will be weighed dry and mast down with all ready to sail equipment as defined in the Class Rules. Corrector weight, bailing sponges, tools and ditty bags are to be removed prior to weight in.
The top three boats of the day and a random boat may be checked upon arrival at the beach at the conclusion of racing each day. These checks may include boat and crew weight and inspection of sails. The Organizing Authority via the designated measurer for the event may spot check any competing boat or crew at anytime.
Competitor’s Insurance
Each competitor must show proof of Liability Insurance with a minimum coverage in the amount of $100,000.00 USD that is valid while sailing in the United States. Competitors with foreign issued insurance policies must show proof that their insurance is valid while competing in the United States. Competitor’s proof of insurance and coverage must be provided at Check In.

Sailing Area and Courses
Launching Area is the beach adjacent to the Hyannis Yacht Club in Lewis Bay.
The Sailing Area will be on Nantucket Sound south of the Hyannisport Jetty.
Courses will be described in the Sailing Instructions.
Awards
Awards will be presented for the F18 2011 North American Championship as follows:
The winning North American team of the F18 Class shall be the NAF18 Champion and will be eligible to represent the NAF18 Class in subsequent invitational events.
Additional trophies will be awarded based on the number of registered boats.
